The return of the Swansea Cork Ferry has been received with great enthuasim. The ferry re-opened under the name of the Fastnetline. Fastnet Line operates the Swansea to Cork route car ferry to Southern Ireland from Swansea, South Wales in the UK. The ferry service operates year-round with 4 weekly services in each direction in the peak months of July & August and 3 weekly services in each direction from September to June. The service is available to foot passengers, cars, caravans and freight traffic and since its launch in March 2010 has renewed a vital trade and tourism link between the UK and the South of Ireland. The service eliminates almost 400 miles (600km) of driving on a round-trip from Cork to London. The overnight crossings ensure that you arrive refreshed and ready to commence your onward journey when you arrive in Cork or Swansea.
History of the Campaign for the return of the Swansea Cork Ferry Cork ferry port is the gateway to Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Southern Ireland. Cork is the third largest town in Ireland, after Dublin and Belfast. Cork has been able to re-create the charm of the past, all be it a very modern and dynamic town, with popular suburbs.
