No one really likes a rainy day now do they. Here in West Cork we love them just as much as a sunny summer's day. You just need to think outside the box and that's what we do here.

  • Sailing : No matter what the weather is like a bit of rain is unlikely to dampen the spirits of the sailing community. Winds tend to be a little more powerful which is great for the extra power and speed. As Glandore is a failry sheltered location it is a great location for a family day out sailing.
  • Swimming: To some a rainy day is the best way to go swimming in the nearby Glandore beach and pier. This may come as a surprise to you but many have commented that the warmth of the water is better on a rainy day. Sure you're gonna get wet anyway. You may as well enjoy it in a different light.
  • Local Pubs: Glandore is lucky to have a few varied bars. They are all unique in their own way. The Marine bar for example  is a comfortable area with high standard furniture and quality wooden finishes including the characteristic circular bar counter. Whether you are looking for a lively night out with a group or a quite drink in a cosy corner the Marine bar has it all.
  • Eating out : There are a few spots to go for food in the Glandore with the Marine to name but one. The restaurant's fine high-ceilinged first floor room is tiered to take full advantage of the harbour and sea views, and stylishly furnished in warm tones, with comfortable contemporary seating and uncovered wooden tables set up attractively for smart-casual dining. Alternatively the Marine bar is equally an attractive venue for eating out.
